Several types of barges have been seen around Bigg City Port and Upriver. They're flatboats used for transporting goods by water, and are usually hauled by tugs. Specialized barges exist, such as fire barges, oil barges, and light barges.
They have appeared in all thirteen episodes of the show.
Oil Barges[]
Oil Barges are tanker barges used to transport oil. One twin tanker variation reads "STAR OIL". Ten Cents and Sunshine were known to deliver the oil barges to Lillie Lightship to keep her light going.
Biography[]
One oil barge was stolen by Sea Rogue under the orders of the Pirate Tugs, who were holding his uncle captive.

Water Barges[]
Water Barges are barges filled with water.
Biography[]
In Sunshine, two water barges are visible behind Ten Cents and Sunshine when the two switchers first meet each other. The same barges were later used to stop logs from escaping with the currents in the episode, Up River.

Music Barge[]
Music Barges are barges that play music. One appears in Regatta.

During the Regatta parade, Zorran towed a music barge from the Bridge Café, playing the café band's theme.

Star Line Oil Barge[]
The Star Line Oil Barge was a white oil tanker barge that only appeared in Munitions.
Biography[]
Captain Star ordered Ten Cents to pick up the Star Line Oil Barge from Lucky's Yard and take it to the Oil Yard after filling it. Later, Bluenose arrived and deliberately scraped the barge with his fuel can barge while ordering Ten Cents to get mobilized.
When Bluenose caused a horrible dock fire after he bumped a munitions barge, the Star Line Oil Barge caught alight, and Ten Cents bravely shifted it out to sea, and it explodes, but Ten Cents escaped before it exploded.

Stone Barges[]
Stone Barges are barges used to transport quarry stone from Big Boulder Rock Company.
Biography[]
In Warrior, Big Mac's overloaded stone barge was sunken by Warrior, who travelling at high speeds and creating large waves. However, in a deleted scene, Big Mac seen positioned on top of the barge itself.

Coal Barges[]
Coal Barges are barges used to transport coal from The Coal Depot to be delivered around Bigg City Port or Upriver.
Biography[]
When Ten Cents and Sunshine found Boomer drifting out in The Estuary, Captain Star ordered Sunshine to bring a coal barge to re-stoke Boomer's boiler to get his engine working.
Under Johnny Cuba's orders, Zebedee stole a coal barge for him to bring to him.

Steel Barges[]
Steel Barges are barges used to transport steel from the Steel Company.
Biography[]
In High Tide, Zebedee and Zak attempted to cut through The Canal to beat Big Mac and Warrior for the steel contract, but end up damaging the railway bridge with their steel rig.

Fuel Barges[]
Fuel Barges are tanker barges for transporting fuel or kerosene.
Biography[]
During the big freeze up, Zorran takes the only fuel barge to supply S.S. Vienna while Ten Cents and Sunshine needed it to supply Lillie. However, Vienna had enough fuel aboard for her to carry on to the next port, leading Zorran to give his kerosene to Lillie for her light.

Garbage Barges[]
Garbage Barges are barges used for transporting garbage to the Municipal Garbage Corporation. Lord Stinker is the only sentient garbage barge.
Biography[]
When Boomer sank in the middle of Bigg City Port, he came to rest on an old garbage barge that sank sometime ago.
During the big freeze up, Warrior was searching an empty garbage barge after Lord Stinker was full, and he found a half empty one. When everyone thought of an idea to guide Vienna in, Warrior came up with an idea: He can set fire to the garbage in the barge to act like a beacon, which he did, but the flames died down just as Ten Cents and Sunshine arrived with the light barge. After the Tugs load and unload their barges, Vienna loaded Warrior's garbage barge with all the rubbish from her.

Grain Barges[]
Grain Barges are barge used to transport grain.
Biography[]
The Star Fleet and the Z-Stacks are on the same job of transporting grain to Izzy Gomez for him to take up the coast. When they are close to finishing, Warrior waits at the front of the line to have his barge loaded by Scuttlebutt Pete when Zorran arrives and deliberately pushes him forward. However, Scuttlebutt Pete has already released the lever, and the load of grain spills all over Warrior instead of the barge. Warrior manages to sneeze the grain off, which lands all over Zorran. Warrior apologises, claiming he couldn't help it.

Other Barges[]
Other Barges are used to transport crates, timber, machinery, wood, munitions, dynamite, barrels, whistling buoys, logs and stone pallets around the harbour.
Biography[]
Barges were used as the stolen items in the episode Pirate. They were taken by Sea Rogue from Ten Cents to save Sea Rogue's uncle from the pirate tugs. Other barges which weren't stolen were later used as bait, and were rigged with extra sensitive flares.
Billy Shoepack is often seen towing a barge loaded with dynamite during his appearances.

Trivia[]
- Both Lord Stinker and Pearl do not have a mouth. However, it is possible that their hulls are their mouths.
- Only four barges are named and have faces. They are Pearl, Lord Stinker, Frank, and Eddie. For some reason, other barges do not have faces.
