Background Information[]
Puffa is a fictional steam locomotive created by David Mitton and Robert D. Cardona. He first appeared in Sunshine, the first episode of TUGS as a background character, had two non-speaking roles in High Tide and Munitions, and a speaking role in Up River.
Behind the Scenes[]
Puffa's model was modified from a Marklin DRG Class 80, the same class used to make Little Owl. The model was built to run on Gauge 1 track, much like the models used for TUGS' sister show Thomas and Friends. His cylinders, side tanks, boiler, funnel, domes and steam pipes were all scratch-built by modelmaker Jeremy King. As David Mitton was not very fond of Little Owl, Puffa was created to replace some of his roles.
There is no information as to what has become of the model for Puffa after production on TUGS ended. The last known source of the model's existence is a behind the scenes photo of the third series of Thomas and Friends.
